SAN FRANCISCO, CA — On April 7th, 2017 the World Health Organization launches a year long campaign on a global health issue for Global Health Day, and this year that focus is depression. The Mood Factory joins in that effort with a cause marketing campaign on their new Mood Shop, featuring their new scent line based on how smells impact moods. Donation amounts for the products range anywhere between $1.00 and $5.00 per item, and are being made starting April 7th going through the end of Mental Health Month (May 31st).
The Mood Factory was founded by Kathryn Goetzke, a passionate advocate for mental health. “People don’t talk about depression and we must change that,” Goetzke said. “Depression is treatable and yet because of the stigma associated with it, less than 50 percent of people with diagnosable depression receive treatment. It is now the leading cause of death among adolescent girls, costs the economy 1 trillion dollars a year, and is a global human rights crisis. We need to turn the conversation to provide solutions and hope for children and adults who silently suffer from the disease.”
According to a report by the World Health Organization, suicide is a preventable mental health disorder that is treatable. However, because it is not significantly addressed, we lose over 1 million lives annually, and is a leading cause of death for our youth. It is estimated to cost the world over 1 trillion dollars a year, yet research shows that for every dollar invested, 4 is returned.
The Mood Factory line includes a new diffuser that uses air only to put essential oil blends into the environment. Instead of a water based method, the diffuser uses a wick and fan system that gently distribute the scent through the air. The Mood-air is portable, light, plugs in to any USB port. It can be used in the car, home, office or gym – anywhere that you need a mood boost.
The Mood-scents are now available in Tranquility, Serenity, Happiness, and Energy. Each blend was specifically made according to how scents impact moods. They are available for pre-order, with an expected ship date of 4/15.
The Mood Factory is donating the money raised to iFred’s very own Schools for Hope program. This program is based on research that hope is a teachable skill, and is used around the world. It is a free program available online, and is available for modification based on cultural needs.
